Our Model

Hudson Community Living Offers a Different Approach to Independent Living

Inspired by successful independent living communities and shaped by the needs of local families, Hudson Community Living offers adults with developmental disabilities a place to call home. Our model combines independent housing, community connection, and opportunities for growth, creating a sustainable and supportive environment where residents can thrive and families can feel confident about the future.

Independent Living

Residents live in cottage-style homes designed to promote autonomy, dignity, and personal choice. Each resident has a private bedroom and bathroom, and shares a thoughtfully designed unit with a roommate.

At HCL, we believe independence looks different for everyone. Some residents live fully on their own, while others receive support from caregivers or provider agencies. What matters most is that every resident has the opportunity to make choices, build meaningful relationships, pursue their interests, and create a life that feels uniquely their own.

HCL is not a caregiving agency.

We don't provide personal care, medication management, or medical services. Residents and/or their guardians choose their own provider or agency, giving them and their families full control over who enters their home and how they're supported.

On-Site Support

While HCL is not a caregiving agency, residents benefit from a unique "outer layer" of support designed to foster safety, connection, and community.

Resident Assistants live on-site and help cultivate a welcoming environment every day. The Community Director and Assistant Community Director oversee daily operations, community programming, resident engagement, and emergency response procedures.

This model allows residents to maintain their independence while families gain peace of mind knowing there is a strong support system built into the community.

Community Life

Friendship is at the heart of Hudson Community Living.

Residents have opportunities to join meals, wellness programs, recreational activities, volunteer experiences, social events, community outings, and holiday celebrations throughout the year.

Life at HCL extends beyond the clubhouse. Residents are encouraged to explore their interests, engage with local organizations, and participate fully in the Hudson community — as neighbors, volunteers, employees, athletes, and artists.

The HCL Difference

Many housing programs focus on where people live.
We focus on how they live.

Our community combines independent housing, intentional relationship-building, resident choice, and community engagement to create an environment where adults with developmental disabilities can truly thrive.
